Hair Transplant Process using the Strip Technique

Hair transplant, regardless of the technique used, is painless procedure that takes place under local anesthesia, without any hospitalization. For practical reasons, we wanted to describe in detail and in pictures a typical session of micro-grafts using the strip technique. This technique is famous in Hair transplant clinic Lahore.

The day of the operation must not cause any particular anxiety or worry. You have to shampoo the day before or in the morning and go to the clinic having eaten normally. A last interview takes place in the office of the surgeon who checks your blood test results as well as the paperwork. A small sedative tablet is given to you to relax for half an hour in the waiting room before joining the operation theater.

The preparation of the patient:

Once in the transplant room, the surgeon proceeds to the drawing of the areas to be treated by showing them to you in accordance with your wishes and makes photographic snapshots of your baldness (these photographs are strictly confidential and will serve only to appreciate the result of the intervention in the following months).

Local anesthesia:

This is the only uncomfortable moment of the intervention. The skin of the scalp, located at the back and on the top of the head, is asleep locally by the soft infiltration of a local anesthetic product comparable to that used at the dentist. After a few minutes, no pain is felt.

The collection of the strip:

At the back of the head, the cutaneous strip containing all the hair roots is removed by the surgeon in a single fragment and the resulting wound is closed according to the new technique of ” trichophyte suture ” using a resorbable thread who will leave alone . The horizontal scar is very thin, airtight and solid. It is immediately invisible , hidden by the neighboring hair. The sampling stage lasts less than 30 minutes.

The preparation of grafts:

The strip once removed is then manually cut very carefully by several assistants on a special dissection table under high magnification (stereoscopic microscopes or video-microscopes …) in multiple fragments themselves cut into micro-grafts or follicular units of 1 to 4 hairs each. The follicular units are classified and grouped in order of magnitude in a preservation solution according to whether they generally contain from 1 to 4 hairs in micro-grafts and ultra-micro-grafts of even finer 1 to 2 hairs. As the dissection progresses, each assistant indicates on a special sheet the type and the exact number of grafts that he cut up. Thus, at the end of the procedure we know precisely the total number of grafts obtained from the strip and this number is always greater than that which was initially planned and additional grafts will all be implanted without waste.

The preparation of the bald area:

While the assistants cut the grafts, the surgeon will begin to prepare the recipient bald spot on which the grafts will be implanted. Tiny small incisions or slits of about 1 mm are made on the bald skin using a very fine instrument with special needle type or a sapphire microlam. This is a very important step since the way in which incisions will be made will condition the final aesthetic result of the graft (position, orientation, concentration of future hair). Thanks to the fineness of the instruments used, it is possible to make several thousand incisions on the skin completely bald or sparse without damaging the hair still present on the head. This stage lasts about three quarters of an hour. When all the slits are done, we go to the last step of the hair transplant which is the placement of the grafts.

Implantation of the grafts:

This is the last step of the hair transplant. It involves gently placing the grafts one by one in each incision most often using very thin micro-forceps or using an implanter instrument such as the ” Hair Implanter Pen “. Each graft is inserted along the axis of the slot completely in the skin several mm deep so that only remains visible on the surface of the surface of the hair (about 1 mm). Although this step is considered the longest of the intervention, it is possible for us to implant more than 600 to 800 grafts in one hour or more than 2000 grafts in less than 3 hours.
